Pathetic

I haven't used my sewing machine in weeks! Why???? Because I would have to find it first!!! Seriously.....what a mess! I have been working on some binding, but mostly I have been giving my house a serious cleaning (much needed). Today I shampooed carpets. I am going to be moving my sewing room upstairs and we will be moving our bedroom to the main level "master bedroom". I want to hurry and get the carpet installed while I still have my "muscle men" home from college....it won't be fun moving our heavy furniture from one floor to another. When we moved here 8 years ago, my husband and I chose an upstairs bedroom closer to our youngest daughter because she found comfort in having us close by. Well.....she is starting high school this year and will be the only child at home with us - it will really seem strange. I have not enjoyed having my sewing room combined with our "guest room"....seriously....look at my mess....which I am obligated to clean up whenever someone comes to stay. You don't even want to see my cutting table! Yep.....pathetic.

Wonderful Waffles

My husband works at a clinic. They are building a new Cancer Center. The clinic employees published a cookbook to sell as a fund-raiser for the Cancer Center. I found a waffle recipe in the book that I just have to share with you.....because they were so yummy!
I thought about taking a photo.....after the waffles were almost gone.....so you will have to take my word for it.....they were golden and delicious!

Oatmeal Waffles
1 1/2 cup flour
1 cup quick oatmeal
1 TBSP baking powder
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp salt
Sift together....set aside.

2 eggs, slightly beaten
2 cups milk (I used buttermilk....and increased it to about 2 1/4 cups
6 TBSP melted butter
2 TBSP brown sugar
Stir together and add to flour mixture until blended.

Pour batter into pre-heated, lightly greased waffle iron.

Enjoy!!!!!

Successful Sale and Yummy Sweets

Our garage sale on Friday and Saturday was very successful.....who would have thought between a few of us there would be almost $900 worth of "unwanted treasures" in our closets! The best part....almost everything sold! I do still have a box full of rubber stamps that I will probably just list on eBay....I decided to sell the whole collection.....but still have half left. It felt so good to fold up the tables and not have to deal with the "left-overs". My profits will go toward the mission trip to Mexico I am part of in October.....it was easy to find things to part with knowing the money would go toward a family who has almost nothing (that is why we are going there to build them a house and furnish it---although it will only be a single room with beds and a table).
Hubs grilled burgers for our evening meal and my mother-in-law came with pie.....pumpkin, chocolate, butterscotch and fresh peach!!! What a yummy way to spend the end of our successful day.

Bad Blogger and Troll Beads

I have been a Bad Blogger - life is getting in the way! Hubs and I celebrated our 26 year anniversary! We are getting old! One of the benefits of having daughters (with good taste) is the fun gifts they help Hubs pick out for me. I had never heard of Troll Beads, but aren't they sweet? :) They picked out 3 colorful glass beads, a cherub, a Dala horse, the Swedish symbol for faith, hope and charity and a ball of yarn. I love it! Here is my full time job. I quit my job to take care of this little guy when he was born (while my daughter and her husband are at work). Our first grandchild, Hannah, was about the same age as my little Friendie is now when she passed away.....that was 5 years ago this month. So you can about imagine how I am treasuring every moment of being Grammie again now. :)

My final "excuse" for not getting any sewing projects done (or even worked on) and for not blogging...."Garage Sale"....we are having a sale tomorrow and Saturday and all I can say is...."Where did all this crap come from?" :)

Seat, Sites and Sewing

A month ago I bought this cute little bench at a local auction.....unpainted. I was needing some fresh air after being stuck inside with the flu earlier this week, so yesterday I painted this little two seater Barn Red. I was pleased with the results. Today I brought out a baby quilt I am working on with hopes to try and catch up..... but the sunshine, cool breeze and view were too distracting.
There is room for two....want to come and 'sit a spell'? :)

Iced Coffee Day

We are finally having some lovely hot days here in Minnesota. I have made iced coffee the past two days.....now that I have found a yummy recipe, I thought I should share it with you. Brew a 12 cup pot of strong coffee....I used 1 cup of grounds.

Mix 1 can sweetened condensed milk with your choice of flavoring....I used 1/3 cup of a mixture of chocolate syrup and carmel syrup.

Stir the milk mixture into the brewed coffee.

Fill your cup or glass full of ice....then add the hot coffee....then add more ice if you have room. You want this really cold. :)

The person who shared the recipe with me said she only uses 1/4 cup of flavoring or it gets too sweet....never to sweet for our household. :)

Enjoy!!!!

Happy 4th !!!

A fun little flag runner for the 4th of July.

And a fun gift from my sweet little grandson! I call him "Friendie". :)

Lights

After 8 years.....a new dining room light.....which only took 30 minutes to install.....good grief!!! I can't believe I put up with this thing all these years......at least I could disguise it when I decorated for the holidays. :)
